Success Stories

A few testimonials from some of our satisfied patrons.

Steve Pope – Orthopaedic Surgeon

“As I drove home through Warmley one day in April 2011 I noticed a new gym – “Precision Gym” I had been meaning to improve my fitness and lose some weight, and now I had stumbled on what would turn out to be a great opportunity. I was shown round by Scott and decided to join soon afterwards – Scott has been my Personal Trainer for the past 2 years. His patience and expertise have been greatly appreciated. Fitting sessions around my work schedule hasn’t always been easy, but Scott has been flexible and willing to start very early in the morning to enable me to attend. two years on, my fitness has improved hugely and I’ve lost around 25kg in weight. I have really enjoyed the challenging and varied sessions Scott has planned for me – and I intend to continue working with him to achieve my goals.”

Sam Garland – Lighting Technician

“I started my training career by joining the gym aged 16 having never enjoyed or taken part in any sporting activities… ever! The main reason being weight loss and after ambling along for a while I decided to join Scott at Precision Gym. During our first consultation we set goals and chatted through means to achieving them, from then onwards it was go, go, go! My induction was quick but informative and Scott will always offer advice to help improve my technique even if I’m not training with him at the time. I was able to see results through my training quickly and after a years worth of hard but thoroughly enjoyable work it all paid off. From this point onwards we have had regular coaching sessions to adjust goals and measure progress accordingly. This has allowed me to adjust my training to accommodate toning and other targets that we set. On top of the obvious results I am seeing, I thoroughly enjoy my training both with Scott and at Precision Gym in general. The sessions that are planned for me are varied and interesting and I am able to easily choose exercises to use during my own training. Another advantage to training with Scott is that he provides extra knowledge that I can use throughout my normal life. The nutritional information and advice is constructive and in line with my goals and he also gives un-biased advice on supplements that would benefit my programme. Since training at Precision Gym I have gone on to compete in tough mudders,10k runs and many other events that I never would have even dreamt about all thanks to Scott.”

Lynn M Parsons Aug 2012 – Retired

“I had been retired for a year in January 2012 after 40+ years working for a well-known chocolate manufacturer over 50% of that time as a production manager.I had always had a very active job but in the first year of my retirement I found I had slowly begun to put on weight. I became concerned this may gradually continue and I would start to feel overweight and unfit. I decided to ring my local gym Precision Gym and spoke to Scott who is director and personal trainer at the gym. I explained my dilemma and he invited me to visit the gym for an induction to see the facilities and discuss my requirements, the rest as they say is history. After a friendly welcome we discussed what my goals were and what the gym could offer me and I decided without hesitation to join and to have some exercise and training sessions with Scott, we have continued these each week. The training with Scott is very varied and I am amazed at what I have achieved over the last 8 months. I have lost the weight I put on with the exercising and nutritional guidance from Scott, losing fat and not muscle and maintained this even after a few ‘full on’ holidays! Being a member of the gym I am able to visit when I can and I take advantage of this numerous times during the week. I feel fitter and healthier and really believe that retirement is a great opportunity to use a gym to keep yourself fit and active as you get older. Scott is a very experienced personal trainer and is excellent at tailoring the training to your ability while at the same time (without you realising) pushing you further to reach your goals and surpass what you ever thought you could do and believe me the sense of achievement is amazing. The whole atmosphere at the gym is friendly and inviting, Scott, Aiden and all the team are always helpful and approachable regardless of your age fitness and ability; I just wish I had done this earlier!”

Diana Burt (45) Secondary SENCO

I have been training with Scott for just over 4 months, with the aims of losing some weight, toning up and improving my fitness.

The Dilemma

Over the years since having my children and going back to work, I had been steadily putting on weight and, except for doing some occasional Zumba, Pilates and yoga, maybe the odd cycle ride, I didn’t really get any regular exercise. I work in education, so I have quite a stressful and intense working day and find that it can be very tricky to eat well.

Scott’s Solution

My experience with personal training began with metabolic typing analysis – very efficiently and skilfully done, with an emphasis on finding out the right fuel to put in the tank. I really value the insight this has given me; I can’t imagine going back to eating how I used to!

Secondly, the dreaded calipers came out for body fat percentage analysis and weight/measurements were taken. So we then had a baseline from which to improve matters.

Next came my introduction to regular exercise! Bit by bit, Scott has coaxed me onto pretty much every bit of kit in the gym – some easier to persuade me to love than others. Between personal training and sessions on my own, plus the occasional foray into circuits, I’ve put in an average of 2-3 hours per week.

I am easily bored and previous commitments to exercise have fizzled out rapidly, so Scott has done a great job of keeping me motivated, varying workouts and keeping me going when the going got tough. We’ve had to work around old injuries to ankles and immobile shoulders, but that hasn’t stopped Scott challenging me to a high level during every session. The highlights have included boxing, rowing, some power lifting and using the TRX – all things I would never have been brave enough to try on my own!

The Result (So Far!)

I have so far lost over 20lbs, but more significantly, I have drastically reduced my body fat percentage to a much healthier level. As everyone who knows me has noticed, I have loads more energy (despite sometimes training very early in the morning!) and have enjoyed the challenge of eating better. (Nuts and milk now accompany me to meetings, rather than biscuits!) My skin has really improved and I’m wearing clothes I only dreamed of wearing 4 months ago.

Training and spending time in the gym have really helped me to start to achieve some work / life balance. The transformation process isn’t over yet, but I’m well on my way to better health and feeling happier in my body.
